LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: Petty Morals

Craving some 80’s synth pop with a touch of  punky feminist vibes? Petty Morals is the band for you!

Self described as “a 6-pack of booty shakin’, party rockin’ ladies from Salem, MA”, Petty Morals is the life of the party pulling influences from famous girl punk powerhouses like Cindy Lauper and Bikini Kill. Their sound is a sweet spot in between 80’s power pop and the 90’s riot grrrl movement that transcends decades. Their music brings fans of all ages together, whether your 9 or 90 Petty Morals will get you up on your feet. They have self released five EP’s all jam packed with girl power.

Acclaimed by their fellow Boston musicians, they have been nominated for categories in the Boston Music Awards three times! The first being in 2014 they were nominated for Best New Act and Best Rock Act. While they did not take home any awards that year they took home the award for Best Music Video at the 2015 awards.

While not typically on tour, Petty Morals has played some wild gigs. Starting out at small local venues like Opus and The Plough and Stars they have grown as an icon of feminism in the North Shore going on to headline “Women’s Night” at the Peabody Essex Museum.
